Why Do You Need a Power Commander?
If you change the air flow of a carbureted bike for different pipes, air-box, cams, etc, you would
need to change the jetting. With a fuel injected bike, you must adjust the fuel curve
electronically. With a Power Commander equipped bike you have more control over the fuel
curve than with carburetion, i.e. you can improve deceleration popping without affecting
idle, something you can not do with carburetion. Your bike will run more smoothly, cooler and have
better throttle response.
The Benefits:
The Hardware
The Power Commander is a fuel injection adjustment module that connects
"in-line" with the bikes stock ECU/ECM
The Software
If you have a Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP computer, you can upload alternate maps or make changes to the existing map using the Control
Center software and link cable (Serial or USB depending on model) supplied with your Power Commander. (Detailed Software tutorials and quick reference software screen shots are available on the CD-ROM or web-site).
How do I get 100% optimization?
First ask yourself is it necessary?
When you installed the Power Commander, you noticed a positive improvement and the most annoying problems
like overheating, surging or pinging have been eliminated. In this state you are probably
90% optimized. If you desire 100% optimization or you require a custom map for a special
application, you must select a dealer that has the proper equipment and training to
accomplish this for a reasonable cost and without damage to your motorcycle.
